Websites · Youth sports league websites

The next volunteer has to be able to run it.

Everybody who builds one of these designs it for the board that exists today. That is the mistake. A league committee turns over, sometimes every couple of years, and the person who inherits the website will not be technical, will be doing it around a full-time job, and will not know who to call. So the requirement that outranks all the others is that it survives being handed to somebody else. Almost nothing gets built that way, which is why so many league sites are frozen.

Nobody can log in, because the account belongs to a guy who moved away.

This is the single most common state I find these sites in. The domain was bought on a personal card, the hosting is under a Gmail address nobody has the password to, and the last person who knew how it worked stepped down two seasons ago. So the schedule is wrong, the registration link goes to last year's form, and the board communicates entirely through a group chat instead.

What this kind of site has to do
  • Registration that takes the fee, opens and closes on your dates, and exports a list the coaches can use
  • One schedule, changed in one place, that every team page picks up
  • A way for a board member to post an announcement without needing me
  • Room for sponsor logos, because that is how the season actually gets funded
  • Every account — domain, email, payments — in the league's name, not a volunteer's
The honest part

Handover is part of the job, not a favour at the end of it.

I put the domain, the email and the payment account in the league's name from the first day, and I write down in plain English how each piece works and who to contact. If a board decides in three years to move to somebody cheaper, they can, and nothing breaks. A site you cannot leave is not a service, it is a hostage situation.

A project like this usually starts with the Business package, below. About two weeks from the day you approve the scope, and no website I build takes longer than 30 days.

Pick the one that fits. The price is the price.

Whichever one you pick, you fill in one form and the rest is on me: the domain, the business email, the site, the listings, and the automations behind them.

Brand identity — $900

Logo, colours, type, and a one-page guide so everything a customer sees looks like it came from the same business.

Merch store — $600

Your own shop selling shirts, hats and whatever else carries your name. Nothing is printed until somebody orders it, so you are never sitting on a box of unsold stock. I build it and hand it over. Orders, sizes, refunds and the person asking where their hoodie has got to are yours, not mine.

AI assistant — Quoted for your business

An assistant on your site that knows your business, answers questions after hours, and takes details when you cannot.
